New Orleans, LA
ABOVE & FACING PAGE: Built in 1980, this home sits on part of a lot that once housed a German orphanage in Uptown New Orleans. Built in the French Country style,
it stands out among the prevailing Southern styles which line the streets of the city. The current owners purchased the home in 2018 and wanted a contemporary, fun
renovation for their large family. The property was fully gutted to the studs, with the new design integrating creative ways to hide ductwork while maintaining high ceiling
heights and open spaces. Original French doors were restored and made operable to allow for a seamless flow between the interior space and the courtyard, and a new
f reestanding staircase was custom-designed as a main focal point. The entire house was also wired as a smart home with automation controls for all lighting, audio, video,
and window curtains.
