Thierry Pfister Architecture & Design
New York, NY
ABOVE & FACING PAGE: The client was living in a very classic New York City apartment when he bought a loft in the Garment District. He was seduced by the rough
industrial look of the concrete columns, the openness of the space, and the pouring light. We immediately decided to reveal and expose the existing structure, with its
steam and sprinkler pipes, and weave all the new architectural elements and lighting into them. Being a corner unit, the loft enjoys oversized windows—and a lot of
magnificent city views. To playfully emphasize that feeling of watching but also being watched, we elevated the living room platform to become a stage, a nod to the
nearby Theater District.
