Patrick Farley Architect
Afton, VA
ABOVE & LEFT: Completely unrecognizable f rom its original state, this "extreme rehab" transformed a 1950s Better Homes & Garden catalog home into
a modern residence more befitting of its site high above the James River. Defined by strong connections to the viewshed, integrated garden space,
and an exterior living wall, I expanded the home to include a partial second-story addition and transformed it f rom a cottage-style aesthetic to one
rich with organic modern character. My passion for bridges also finds its way into this project, signifying the connection of the home with one of the
defining aspects of the local history and culture.
