ABOVE & FACING PAGE: Situated in Great Falls, Virginia, on
a five-acre plot, this Italianate custom home was designed
to capture an Old World feel yet maintain a subtle presence.
The homeowners wanted to me include some classic Tuscan
elements with all of the modern conveniences and elegant
details. I found a balance between dynamic spaces and intricate
details and niches that give the estate its unique character.
LEFT: Tall ceilings and rooms filled with light are featured
throughout the house, including the foyer. Maintaining the Old
World feel, it invites you into the home with the barrel ceiling
and plaster lacing that leads to the upper-floor bridge and
groin vault. The sculptural main stairs are conveniently tucked
at the rear of the home, just off the foyer.
