ABOVE & LEFT: As the designers of the home, as well as the certified passive house consultant and a
passive certified builder, we didn't miss any energy details. The blending of passive design with elevated
ideals throughout the home hinged on the southwestern-facing courtyard. It provides privacy, security, and
connection to the outdoors. We also moved the southern façade away f rom the neighbor, which allows for
solar gain in the winter.
FACING PAGE: Part of our job is to ensure that each project offers a unique architectural experience, and upon
stepping inside the Ballard Passive House, that objective is clear. It's a bold, comfortable, distinctive home. One
of the best services that design and construction professionals can provide is to create a unique expression of
form while pushing energy-efficient homes that reduce our carbon footprint. In order to do that, it's imperative
to understand the science and construction methodologies without compromising on any design elements.
