ABOVE & FACING PAGE: Designed for a Colorado mountain retreat, the inspiration for this home's materials palette is derived f rom the native aspens found on the site. We chose
Douglas fir to construct the columns, rafters, purlins, ceiling, and cabinetry, while shou sugi ban—Japanese blackened resilient cedar—will comprise the siding. Stacked rubble
and sintered stone slabs will pair with large glass openings to complete the exterior envelope.
PREVIOUS PAGE: The interior of the home will continue the exterior color and material scheme, with natural golden hues, rich black, shades of white, and an array of grey tones.
Intended as a respite for the homeowners, the spaces create a sense of connectivity with the home's surroundings and offer a panoramic vista of the dramatic landscape.
