ABOVE & FACING PAGE: Despite cedar shake shingles on the top two floors and a copper roof and gutters that will patina over time, the dark wood paneling and Old
World accessories in the entryway let you know immediately that this is not your typical beach house. Once you walk into the great room, however, the palette completely
shifts. Careful layering with curtains and upholstery offsets the formal concrete corbels on the ceiling, Italian limestone floor, and concrete kitchen countertops. A vaulted
ceiling in the primary suite allows for a four-poster bed that faces directly out onto the Gulf. Anyone can have a shabby-chic beach house, but the presence of more upscale
materials in this relaxed setting is quite elegant.
