281 ABOVE & RIGHT: In the 1920s and '30s, Hawaii architect C.W. Dickey designed a number of homes incorporating the California Mission Revival style. His work served as the inspiration for this estate, which incorporates Hawaii's unique historic architectural character. The floorplan was designed to capture dramatic views f rom all the living areas. Graceful Mediterranean colors and details, including traditional door and window designs with custom divided lites, were incorporated throughout the home. FACING PAGE: To maintain a residential scale, the plan included an entry court and protected exterior spaces off the living areas with generous covered lanais. The central portion of the two-story structure graciously steps down to one-story massing to aesthetically reduce the scale of the estate home.
