ABOVE & FACING PAGE: We built the Dover Beach Residence with one particular goal in mind: to create a
casual, barefoot-beach lifestyle that suited Sandpoint in Northern Idaho—and it had to look the part, too. The
home supports playing on the lake with family and f riends, as the house is merely feet f rom the shores of the
Pend Oreille River, the outlet for Lake Pend Oreille. We captured the soft feel and tones of the beach with our
wood siding in tans and greys. The homeowner combined several different siding textures and colors for a pure
custom mix, capturing the soft feel she was after. The exterior massing came f rom a combination of our desire
for a modern-feeling home, and the architectural requirements of the development.
