ABOVE & LEFT: Set on the Potomac River, the Gelman-Salop Residence pulls f rom the text of Exodus, marking
a visual reference to Moses parting of the waters. For the homeowners, this is their promised land, complete
with passive solar elements and calming peaceful vistas. Large overhangs align with the sun angles to utilize
winter solar gain as well as summer shade protection. The home has the sense of a hushed sigh where velvet
sunshine dapples.
