55 I am a big advocate for utilizing trendy design options that fit within my client's aesthetic. But when designing a glamorous bathroom, I keep one rule in mind. The finishes, such as tile and stone, are pretty permanent and need to stand the test of time. Replacing these finishes, when trends change (as they always do), is a very expensive and lengthly proposition. I utilize finshes and patterns that are pretty universal and focus my trendy color options to paint wallpaper and accessories. They are easy to replace and will not disrupt the bathrooms use as my client's taste change. Below are some TIPS for a timeless master bath design: - Stick to classic fixture colors (i.e. nickel or silver, black, oil rubbed bronze or brass) as opposed to bold and trendy colors! - Choose traditional cabinet colors (e.g. white, gray, white oak, or espresso) as opposed to bold and trendy colors (e.g. navy blue, forest green, pink, etc.) - Choose neutral or classic tiles that will stand the test of time - Use full-f rame glass walls and doors to separate your wet areas as it opens up the room to enjoy your stone and tile treatments - Accessorize with interesting light fixtures that create a statement but also soothing lighting. - Go TRENDY in your textiles such as rugs, towels and shower curtains! and even paint and wallpaper if you are looking for a bolder statement. These items are MUCH easier (than cabinets and fixtures) to change in the future! Completing Your Dream Bathroom Tip # 3 : Colors & Finishes by Sally Lord GreyHunt Interiors
