When Craig Hoopes was nine, he was intrigued by the entire
construction process and end results—fast forward to now, and
he's still fascinated by it all. Since the time he founded Hoopes
+ Associates in 1992, the firm has become one of Santa Fe's top
studios, specializing in the design of custom homes, performing
and assembly spaces, sacred spaces, and other custom places
for end-users.
H+A is deeply committed to community, pragmatic design, and
enduring architecture, infusing their designs with a modernist
aesthetic that relies on form and minimalism and that is, above
all, timeless and classic. Blurring the line between the indoors
and outdoors is also a hallmark of their work, especially given
Santa Fe's environment and seasons that beckon interaction.
Their houses invite residents into the landscape while providing
a sense of enclosure and protection.
As a boutique firm, Hoopes + Associates has stayed small by
design in order to have close relationships with their clients
that allow them to better understand their needs and concerns.
They believe that architecture is a collaborative process; it is not
created by one person sitting in a room and dreaming. Rather,
it is many people dreaming together — client, architect, interior
designer, landscape designer, contractor, and artisans. And,
