11 ABOVE: The curvaceous line of this overflow pool hugs the sweeping roofline of the home, leading the eye to the rugged hillside beyond and capturing its visage in the tranquil mirrored plane. Strategically placed ironwood trees reflect in the water and serve as focal elements when viewed from the home's interior. Right: Combining modern Zen with a playful waterslide, the marble-clad wall discreetly hides the contraption before the slide bursts through the first portal. A second portal provides the sheer waterfall and a glimpse of the landscape beyond. The offset rectangular theme continues with the sun shelf and the flush-to-water turf. FACING PAGE TOP LEFT: As seen from the firepit, this flush pool emerges as the deck terraces downward, exposing a waterwall to the lawn below. Stone planters ground the vessel to the architecture while a singular ironwood tree leads the eye to Camelback Mountain. A pewter Oceanside glass spa shimmers in the sunlight. FACING PAGE TOP RIGHT: Inspired by architect Luis Barragán, these bold, colorful walls converge at the opposite corner and enclose a mirrored, overflow spa. Like the hue of the tropical flower Anthurium, a crimson wall features a long, stainless plank runnel that spills to the spa. FACING PAGE BOT TOM: Like a billowing sail, the sweeping arc of this vanishing-edge pool echoes the descending arc of the mountain ridge beyond. Levitating slightly above the deck, the overflow wall emerges to the left, providing a perfect opportunity for the floating bar top.
