288 Inspired Outdoor Living TOP LEFT: This sunken water garden, located just outside this home's exercise room, creates a private relaxation space to view and enjoy. There are more than 50 custom miniature LED fixtures recessed into the rain wall, all individually wired using gold quick-disconnect fiings and replacement modules for future replacement. This was in 2010, long before LED was reliable! BOT TOM LEFT: Water is always the most challenging and I learned early to light water from outside the water. Here, two stake-mount adjustable fixtures (one visible, on the right) graze the edge of the fall and show the curved wall behind, creating a strong, cohesive effect across the entire wall of the covered arrival. FACING PAGE ABOVE: As you enter this Long Island property, you see this expansive space. All the stone was from one quarry in upstate New York, and I grazed it to show the amazing detail by the stone masons. Three levels of plant up lighting fill in around the structures, creating a cohesive scene. FACING PAGE BELOW: In the view through the porte-cochere from the front door to the forest beyond, lighting reveals the ground plane—for visual comfort—along with the amazing dry-stack structure and the mature trees. It provides a strong scene that allows the owners and guests to enjoy all parts of this extensive landscape.
