306 Inspired Outdoor Living ABOVE: With this view of the expansive backyard of the Lee's Summit home, you can see the rest of the fountain as well as the magnificent—and massive—fireplace hearth. This space was made for casual entertaining with its warm, comfortable aitude. The evening ambience is elevated even more with outdoor lighting from Doug Bringman of NiteLitesKC. Photography by Ma Kocourek FACING PAGE TOP: This covered patio spills down from the back door of a home in the country, lovingly referred to as the Chicken Farm because of the owners' pet chickens. The fireplace doubles as a place for any kind of woodfired cooking, from s'mores to pizza, steaks, burgers, and more. We sourced the natural stone from Sturgis Materials and the highest quality wood for the beautiful beams and pavilion from Schue Lumber. The framing was done by Don Cunningham with DSC Construction. Custom-cut Pennsylvania bluestone from Sturgis Materials features a circular inlay. The custom-made, European-style fire pit includes three center sculptures for added impact, supplied by the Fireplace & Bar-B-Q Center. The fire pit has a circumference of nearly eight feet along with a double-lip granite capstone. The center sculpture is inspired by prairie grass; up close, the level of detail in the hammered and twisted iron is extraordinary. Smooth boulders surround the pit, offering seating for long nights by the fire. Photography by Ma Kocourek Designed by Maverick Landscaping, Stilwell, KS, page 318 Details
