ABOVE: Rolling Waves is a residential project that's situated on cliffs overlooking San Francisco Bay in Tiberon, California. Brian O of Zenscape
designed and installed the project with the help of fabrication by Wya Studios. The concept behind the design was to layer the tiers of the
garden with undulating waves of Corten steel, mimicking the waves of the bay below.
FACING PAGE (clockwise from top left): The backyard of the property features three curved retaining walls as well as a sculpture by Gino Miles
of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dwarf conifers, proteas, and leucadendrons were planted to add color and texture to the garden.
The steel circle enclosure is filled with smooth river stones as a playspace for the client's toddler. A raised fire pit patio was one of the four rooms
created in the garden. O enjoyed complementing the smooth steel with an arrangement of rock work such as blue slate, moss rock, and river
stone.
This residential garden was Zenscape's first design with Corten steel. The clients wanted a divider in the center of the garden to help create a
different room in their backyard. O used succulents, groundcovers, and cascading plants with a variety of textures to soften the curved steel.
