105 A Home Full of Heart F or a couple whose lives began modestly, celebrating the blessings that have come their way through hard work and gratitude was a high priority when it came to building their Kiawah Island home. Even the way they met Marc set the tone for the entire experience. The couple was shopping for lots and spotted Marc, who was working on another home nearby. The energy he exuded when they spoke aligned perfectly with theirs. The clients' desire to avoid a "typical" Kiawah house meant that they were as much a match for Marc's approach to home building as he was for their energy. On approach, it's clear the home is anything but typical. A stone wall wraps around the front courtyard, immediately giving the home an intimate feel. Brick features impart Southern charm to the front façade, while peaked windows draw the eye and hint at the light-flooded interiors. Once inside, coffered ceilings and a brick archway greet guests in the foyer. Beyond, the Great Room features Marc's first-ever pyramid ceiling. Two peaks in the center of the room, accented by dark wood beams, elevate the space with a sense of old-world craftsmanship. Crown molding keeps the room to a human scale, helping the space feel grounded and warm. The home features some unique characteristics, from the cathedral-like ceiling and windows in the screened deck—complete with fireplace and ample seating—to the bunk room with its nautical feel. A mother-in-law suite rests above the garage, and the large deck includes a pool and hot tub combination overlooking the marsh behind the home. There's even a private sitting room upstairs with simple interiors and a gathering of chairs for family meetings with the kids. The remarkable part of the home, though, is the energy that's immediately palpable upon entry. The love, gratitude, and high energy of the clients, Marc's team, and all the contractors seem to be infused in the walls, arches, and ceilings of the home, making it a truly special place.
