216 Rethinking Architecture: From the Inside Out Simple Tranquility W hen it came time for the owner, who had worked in the hotel industry, to build a home, he understood most of the process involved in designing and building. The home not only showcases Camens Architectural Group's sophistication in design, but also highlights these features in a residence that is simple, peaceful, and nothing over-the-top. Beautiful details throughout take a simpler tone than some of Marc's other homes, but still retain the refinement and careful attention to detail for which his work has become known. Upon approach, one enters the front via an archway and is immediately struck by the warmth inside. The common areas flow gracefully into one another, with columns marking the transitions between the living room and kitchen, and between the kitchen and dining room. A bricked screened porch features a vaulted ceiling and fireplace for year-round, all-season living. The vaulted ceiling makes another appearance in the upstairs den, and the home features a home office and guest rooms. As a tribute to Marc's work, when the original owner put the home on the market, four buyers were competing to call it their next home. Its warmth is simply undeniable to guests and potential buyers alike. KIAWAH ISLAND, SC
