Nestled in Oaks
T
ruly snugged into an incredible site that overlooks the expansive marsh and Kiawah River, this
home is enveloped by oak trees — and it was important to the owners to preserve as many of
them as possible while framing the glorious view.
Marc designed the property to resonate with its site and reflect the quintessential Kiawah shingle-
style architecture, flecked with dormers and boasting classic symmetry and fanciful, unexpected
moments. The embrace of an expansive porch colonnade welcomes guests into the U-shaped home,
which is intentionally zoned for public entertaining spaces and separate private havens.
The traditional splendor of the centralized living area spills into the open kitchen with a long island
that's made for gathering and conversation. A screened porch, with its fireplace and grand vaulted
ceiling, radiates warmth and is a seamless extension of the interior. The porch opens directly to the
deck with its outdoor seating area alongside the pool and grill.
The separate primary bedroom wing and family suites along with the guest quarters over the garage
offer privacy within the home.
As with all Marc's designs, the ceilings are a dynamic focal point and demonstrative of his highly
attuned attention to detail. From the space-defining, coffered ceilings in the main living areas to the
patio's grand, lodge-style beams and the classic tongue-and-groove overhangs outside, every plane is
impeccable.
