2 INSPIRED KITCKENS & BATHS Everything has its place! Or so they say… This is especially true with good kitchen design. Upon beginning a kitchen design with a client, we always ask what they need to store, what they want (and may not currently have), and how they function in the space. Their responses will determine the kitchen design in terms of the layout, the types of cabinets, the "bells and whistles," and the dedicated spaces. When it comes to dedicated spaces, the sky truly is the limit! Here are just a few: · A beverage area with a f ridge and grab-and-go area — for all types of drinks and even snacks. · A cocktail and wine bar — possibly with a wine cooler or glass storage. · A coffee bar with a premium espresso maker and all the mugs — bring on the caffeine fix! · A pet station with readily accessible food and water bowls and storage for other pet care items like food, leashes, medicines, grooming. · An "office" area with filing drawers and a countertop surface for mail, bill pay, and electronic devices. · A charging station for phones — often attached to the office area. And so much more! We see many of these dedicated spaces requested time and time again. Another hugely popular dedicated space for a kitchen is a large island that provides a gathering hub for dining and entertaining as well as for functional use. Adding a microwave, sink, dishwasher, and prep area into the island can be a game-changer. Of course, a kitchen's "mini" spaces — like tiered utensil drawers for added storage and cabinet-style pantries with pull-outs for pots and pans, large dishes and bowls, and small appliances — are all incredibly useful, too. Ultimately, it's all about great design that is truly functional for all who live in the home.
