This transitional kitchen design is proof of how innovative we can be when we aren't bound by limitations or traditional thinking. The homeowners only provided one design cue
to build the kitchen around: the circle that's in the center of the rectangle on the island's end panel. They also wanted to incorporate the antique mirror — and that's where we let
our imaginations begin! I created a 36-inch custom door with the mirror to disguise the refrigerator. Rich, mahogany-stained wood created cohesiveness between this custom
unit and the island. I love the juxtaposition of this rich tone with the elegant, streamlined white cabinetry.
The white European cabinets were all constructed to be frameless — to maximize every square inch without sacrificing any space. Aside from their functionality, I also wanted
to make the cabinets unique with innovative door styles that don't follow any rules; they are playful and very detailed! We incorporated the rest of the appliances so seamlessly
that even I have a hard time remembering where we put the 18-inch freezer!
