2 INSPIRED KITCKENS & BATHS
For a formerly cramped galley kitchen in an Eichler-inspired home in Mountain View, California, we completely reimagined the design, opening it up to allow more space for
cooking and convenience. Taking space from the front entry, we created a three-quarter height wall that became a bank of pantry cabinets and Miele appliances — including a
combi-steam oven, a larger oven, and a coffee maker. Moving this wall allowed enough space for the island, featuring an induction cooktop with a streamlined vent hood above.
The new space was open to the dining room on one end and an informal dining area on the other end, making it ideal for entertaining larger gatherings. Expanding on their
eclectic aesthetic, the homeowners wanted an ultra-modern space that felt warm and integrated some of their special Asian accent pieces. So, we focused on one strong hue,
letting the deep red take center stage in the European glass cabinets. Soft-grey quartz countertops, matte black lappato porcelain floors, and textured white cabinets provide a
beautiful yet neutral backdrop. The backsplash is another standout element. Chosen for its Asian-inspired pattern and subtle hue, it doubles as art.
