The secret to designing a sleek, modern farmhouse kitchen that's oriented toward family and entertaining is to infuse it with
elements that add warmth — like these engineered, white-oak floors. For this space, the homeowner also desired a clean, clutter-
free, and symmetrical design, which we achieved with a bookend layout that balances appliances and cabinets, windows, and doors.
A mirrored stainless-steel range and hood coordinate with the lighting and mirrored appliance doors. Shaker-style cabinets and
plain drawers offer simple lines. Graphic light and dark elements — including the oversized, counter-to-ceiling subway tile with dark
grout and dark window cladding — are softened by honed granite counters. The 12.5-foot island is topped with veined quartz to mimic
Carrara marble but offer more durability. This home has a true eat-in kitchen with no formal dining room; the dining table stretches
along the three French doors looking out to the upper deck with glass panels for an unobstructed pool and pond view.
