To make this modern kitchen a reality for a couple of designers and their client, we collaborated on all necessary decisions, including appliances, color palettes, and features. For
the cabinetry, we selected a reconstituted architectural-grade veneer that has a rich, dark-brown color. For the paint, we used a velvet clearcoat dead flat finish for an elegant,
fresh look. (This velvet finish is very popular in Europe and is slowly being introduced to the U.S. market.) As always, appliances were perfectly integrated into the cabinetry, like
the Miele slim hood vent that's hidden behind the one of the upper cabinets. The 36-inch refrigerator with two freezer drawers was likewise seamlessly incorporated into the
design with custom panels matched to the surrounding cabinets. It was so well-hidden that some people asked me why there was a tall cabinet and not a fridge there. Mission
accomplished!
