From high on the ridge, the panoramic view to the Valley Ridge
Golf Club 17th green and beyond is as spectacular as it is
intimidating. The dramatic par-3 hole measures 245 yards from
the blue tee box, and is only slightly less daunting from the 216-
yard white, 195-yard yellow, and 177-yard red tees.
The tees tower 200 feet above the distant, well-protected green.
All tee boxes require a precise and powerful shot through a chute
formed by trees and then over a large stand closer to the green.
The 17th usually plays with the prevailing wind, making careful
club selection extremely important, as any shots long will be lost.
Two massive and deep bunkers define the left front and left
back of the putting surface and a grass pot bunker guards the
front. The trees lining the right side are on the edge of a creek,
and the terrain slopes in that direction. Any shots long and right
are in real trouble, while shots hitting the green have to be well
placed. A large ridge running from the back of the green to the
front creates two tiers and treacherous putts from the high side.
Not surprisingly, the beautiful 17th yields the fewest holes-in-one
of Valley Ridge's par 3s.
