The Columbia River Valley, bordered by the Canadian Rockies
and the Purcell Mountains, is one of the most beautifully scenic
areas in Canada. At Copper Point Golf Club, just a few miles
north of the Columbia's headwaters, the unique and dramatic
beauty is on display at every turn. The 18th hole is a picturesque
and perfect example.
From the copper tees, 312 yards from the center of the green,
you cross just a corner of the large pond that shapes the dogleg
to the right. From the other three tee boxes, especially the back
tees at 406 yards, you can decide how much of the dogleg you
want to cut off after carrying your shot 250 yards over the water.
Past the Douglas firs on the right side and the pond, from the
fairway you'll face a second shot of 150 yards or less to an
elevated green with a narrow opening between massive bunkers.
The putting surface is 60 feet deep, with a bowl-like contour that
feeds shots into the centre of the green from the left and back.
The Purcells tower behind the tee boxes, and from the fairway
and green the views of the Rocky Mountains are spectacular on
Copper Point's grand finale.
