As you step up to the first tee for a great day on the course, pause to take in the
ambience: fairways surrounded by large trees and, in the background, a panoramic
view of British Columbia's Coastal Mountains.
The Redwoods opened in 1994 and takes its name from the 38 hundred-year-old
heritage California redwoods that border the north end of the property. A Ted Locke
design located just 30 minutes east of Vancouver, the 6,500-yard masterpiece
situated in rolling countryside and forested terrain is a dynamic work of art.
At 319 yards, the 10th hole is an inspiring example of Locke's design; it's not the
longest par 4 on the course, but its diverse features will challenge the full spectrum
of any player's ability. Off the tee, a golfer faces many decisions with club selection
for a strategic ball placement. The narrow, slightly downhill dogleg will entice the
challenger to drive the corner as the fairway widens 200 yards out. However, a miss
could result in an unfavourable ball position; the safe play will be on the left side
toward the target fairway bunkers.
As the golfer rounds the corner, a stunning view over the undulating green masks a
deceptive target. Landing an accurate approach safely on the green will avoid three
bunkers—one left and two behind, not to mention a narrow, rocky creek that wraps
itself around the front edge.
