Designed by golf and landscape architect Bill Newis—whose designs have been
ranked in the top 50 courses in Canada—Lynx Ridge Golf Club serves up a broad
spectrum of experiences on every round, just as the course has since its founding
in 2000. Dramatic contours, strategically placed hazards, and a great variety of
challenging holes are certain to deliver the joy of the game while challenging
players of all abilities, which is one reason the club has developed such an
impressive reputation.
Perched high above the banks of the beautiful Bow River—which affords golfers
unbelievable views—the third hole at Lynx Ridge stands out as possibly the
toughest on the course. It certainly has been known to break a few hearts when all is
said and done.
At 420 yards, the hole requires a straight mid-length tee shot to reach the fairway
and set up for the approach into the multitier green. Drives that sail left or right will be
out of bounds or encounter hazards, requiring much skill and adding to the score to
get back on target. Those that stray long will drop down into the gaping canyon that
separates the fairway and the green; certainly something to avoid.
Once on the green, dramatic swales and contours make distance control critical and
one-putts a challenge. On the green in two makes par a very attainable score. Miss
the green, and even bogey becomes a challenge. You'll want to give your best on
every shot on hole 3.
