Making the most of the space afforded by a site of more than 200 acres backing onto
Fish Creek Provincial Park, the classic parkland-style course of Canyon Meadows
Golf & Country Club delivers an expansive layout and gives every hole a spacious,
separate feeling.
Picturesque number 12 stands out as one of the toughest holes on the course. At a
lengthy 206 yards, the signature par 3 makes use of significant hazards to create a
visually intimidating prospect from the tee.
A sizable pond on the right side comes into play off the tee and runs the length of the
fairway and the green. The water hazard is rock-lined as well, so steering well clear
of it is the safe choice. The obvious solution is to play to the left. Not so fast! Players
feel the need to bail out to the left away from the water, but to the left of the fairway
and the green, two sizeable bunkers wait for shots that overcompensate.
The large green is relatively flat on the front approach, but slopes uphill at the
midpoint and falls off to the right at the rear. Pin placement will dictate strategy on
this hole, calling for both power off the tee and precise placement to make par. The
12th is certain to be a standout every round.
