Ranging from 95 yards from the forward tees to 240 yards from the championship
tees, number 14 at Lynx Ridge Golf Club is as long and demanding as it is beautiful.
Natural marshland separates the tees from the green and dense stands of mature
poplar, aspen, and birch trees line the hole and grab errant tee shots.
Trying to reach this green on the first shot can be a challenge in itself, and careful
club selection is as important as skill. A deep bunker lurks front and right for those
who don't quite make the target. For those who are too aggressive and overshoot the
green, a second trap lays in wait.
Once on the green, the distinct spine that dissects the putting surface makes one-
putts very tricky, often giving even the most experienced players a run for their
money. Golfers should focus on getting the ball on the same tier as the cup when
they land on the green, or three- and four-putts are inevitable to complete the hole.
Every once in a while, a hole combines both scenery and challenge, making the
experience simply perfect. The peaceful and tranquil setting at hole 14 lulls the golfer
into a false sense of security, emitting the feeling of a lazy little hole that should be
an easy par. Instead, the hole is every bit as difficult as any par 3, making a score of
three or better a true accomplishment.
