St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino takes full advantage of
its spectacular Rocky Mountain setting, where majestic pine
forests and the St. Mary's River—a world-renowned fly fishing
destination—provide a fitting backdrop for the championship
layout. At a total yardage of 7,007 from the back tees, the par-
72, Furber-designed course offers a rich variety of environments.
The 558-yard 18th hole's broad, straight fairway is ringed by
hazards. A large area of rough bracken to both sides awaits any
miscue off the tee. Across the front of the fairway and running
the entire right side is a series of bunkers that make it critical to
keep your ball within the fairway area. On the left, a prominent
water hazard runs the length of the fairway. And while the fairway
is broad and relatively flat, a substantial bunker lurks dead
centre, forcing players to make a critical decision in selecting
their strategy off the tee. A rough gulley crosses the front of
an undulating green with bunkers on both sides. Hole 18 truly
captures the spirit of the St. Eugene course: straightforward, but
genuinely challenging.
Visually, the hole offers a stunning prospect. The resort's
imposing architecture set against the towering snow-capped
mountain is breathtaking. For what transpires during play as well
as the experience of the course as a place to be, St. Eugene is
sure to be memorable each and every time.
