Letting out a sigh of relief after finishing the front nine at
Northlands Golf Course is well deserved. And now the 10th hole
looks simple enough. A 312-yard downhill par 4: What is so
difficult about that? Well, let's just say that you do not have to be
long to be tough.
Your tee shot is vital on this hole. Hitting it too far will put you right
into the pond. Hit it too short and you find yourself wishing you
had hit it too far. From high above, the green looks like a postage
stamp surrounded by water. A 200-yard tee shot will leave you in
a comfortable position to decide if you want to attack the flag or
play safe and aim for the middle of the green. The middle is the
best so that you can circumvent the water hazard as well as the
bunker on the front right lip of the green.
Once the 10th hole is over, it's time to put your birdie hat on
and make up some lost strokes. The next four holes will be
quite enjoyable. Watch out for the 15th and 18th holes as you
come in.
