45 THE LINKS at Moses Pointe PAR 4 423 YARDS Moses Lake, WA 866.764.2275 www.mosespointe.com The Links at Moses Pointe has its share of water, native grasses, and desert challenges, but only one hole that requires a forced carry over water to reach the green in regulation: the stunning 423-yard ninth hole. The blind tee shot is aided by a 150-yard pole and bunker on the right side of the fairway. A well-struck tee shot left of the 150 marker will leave one of the most memorable approach shots on any golf course in the Pacific Northwest. Closely guarded by a small lake in front of the green and surrounded by tan-colored sand that highlights the native grasses framing the bunkers, this large and undulating green is the only refuge for the golfer's approach. The well-defined ridge that bisects this enormous green suggests to the better player the importance of staying below the hole. For most players, however, anywhere on the putting surface is a welcome thought compared to the alternatives. More intimidating than difficult, the downhill approach shot to the ninth is typically a medium to short iron that plays about a club shorter. With Moses Lake as the backdrop and desert beauty all around, this breathtaking approach is just the challenge that golfers dream of conquering. 9 Photograph by JR Johnson, golfphotos.com
