93 THE RESERVE VINEYARDS AND GOLF CLUB North Course PAR 5 501 YARDS Aloha, OR 503.649.8191 www.reservegolf.com Situated in the heart of Oregon's wine country, The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club is valued as much for the competitive golf it has seen as the verdant scenery it embraces. Although relatively new, the course has already been the site of Peter Jacobsen's Fred Meyer Challenge as well as one of the major events on the PGA's Champions Tour, the Jeld-Wen Tradition. Many of golf's greatest players, including Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Annika Sorenstam have walked its fairways. There are two wonderful 18-hole courses at The Reserve that alternate between public and private use. The 18th hole on the North Course is a classic risk/reward finishing hole with a lake at the green's right-front edge, providing grief for some and glory for others. It is a stunning finish to a round of golf, with the chateau-like clubhouse reflecting in the water. The championship tees sit at just over 500 yards, encouraging better players to go for the green in two. Other less talented, but often more successful, players will choose to lay up in front of the green and pitch a shot that can net an opportunity for birdie, or certainly a par. North Course designer Bob Cupp is also noted for his work at Crosswater and Pumpkin Ridge. Providing dramatic contrast to the John Fought-designed South Course, which is pure Willamette Valley in character, the North Course is like playing among Oregon's celebrated coastal dunes. 18 Photograph courtesy of The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club
