Whitetail Club's championship golf course was designed by two-time US Open
Champion Andy North and Roger Packard, and has consistently been named a top
course in the western United States by Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines. Many
holes on the course wind through the towering ponderosa pines demanding control
off the tee. The finishing holes provide open, water-laced meadows with spectacular
views of Long Valley.
The 11th hole comes at a strategic time in a stretch of the most demanding holes on
the course. After holing out on the difficult 10th, golfers proceed to the 11th, where
they'll find the straightaway par 4. The 11th hole features an elevated tee with views
of Boulder Mountain framed by towering ponderosa pines. Length is not a priority
in playing the hole well. At 365 yards from the middle tees, a well-struck tee shot
through the corridor of pines will come to rest at the bottom of the valley. From that
point, a short iron will likely be the club of choice. Though the second shot is not long,
distance and direction are priorities in making par or birdie. The small, elevated green
is heavily guarded by four deep bunkers just waiting to gobble up any ball left short.
One of the more level greens on the course and receptive to holing putts, the 11th
can be your friend if you've made it to the green safely.
