Mountain Modern
ABOVE AND FACING PAGE: This modern mountain home takes full advantage of the breathtaking panorama of Montana's Bitterroot Valley and Lolo Peak, thanks
to generous windows oriented to the views. A fire bowl on the patio immediately provides a cozy place to comfortably sit and enjoy the setting. The home's rustic
influences — including an exterior color palette that was inspired by lichen-covered stone collected from the site — reflect the surrounding wilderness, an area that is
home to elk herds, countless deer, and prairie wildlife. The prairie ecology of the site was restored and the invasive plants that were present prior to the construction
were removed to allow for a healthier ecosystem. The structure is also designed to be very energy efficient with carbon sequestering wood construction, SIP roof
panels, ICF foundations, and continuous insulation on perimeter walls.
