Inspired Modern Living
The Chaten house sits on a nearly two-acre site in Ridgeview Estates, a small tucked-away community in Carefree,
Arizona. The site offers a full northside view of Carefree's Black Mountain and mountain views north with plenty of native
vegetation and boulders. The home's design wraps around the main view of Black Mountain, embracing the view from
every major space — living, dining, kitchen, and primary bedroom. A high roof encloses the great room, sloping from low
on the north side to high on the south side so one can see the mountain peaks with plenty of sky to frame the view. The
H-shaped plan allows bedrooms at the ends with three walls of glass and an open great room in the center. Owner Kathy
Chaten completed the interiors, marrying together the architecture and finishes beautifully.
