106 Inspired Modern Living Breaking from Santa Monica, California's typically insular residential architecture, this modernist-inspired home actively engages with its neighborhood. The entrance features a dual-purpose water feature that serves as a public bench, while a dramatic window at the powder room creates an unexpected dialogue with the street — reflecting the worldly owners' desire for community connection. The ground floor dissolves boundaries between inside and out, with pocket sliders that completely retract on three sides to unite the main living spaces with the pool and yard. Within the open-plan interior, strategic LED lighting frames the kitchen, providing subtle spatial definition while maintaining flow. Contrasting this expansive social sphere, the owners' private domain offers sublime refuge. The centerpiece is a generous 10-foot-by-4-foot shower crafted from a single quartzite slab, selected for its mesmerizing yet serene character. Throughout the day, natural light from above plays across the stone's muted tones and fluid patterns, creating an ever-shifting meditation in tranquility.
