The epitome of the SoCal lifestyle, this home embraces elevated urban beach architecture. Situated on a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, California, the home is defined by a
series of intersecting glass volumes that frame water views and embrace ocean breezes — all reinforcing the indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Designed as a weekend retreat, the house is a low-maintenance escape and a
base camp for coastal adventures. Care was taken to create a varying façade that provides visual interest and reinforces the modern beach home concept.
Maximizing the square footage of its modest lot, the home features three levels of living. The ground floor includes the primary living spaces where glass walls open the rooms to the street and beach landscape. A
sculptural stair links the first and second floors to the roof-level outdoor living that is divided into an intimate fireplace lounge and an open entertaining deck. Operable glazing is used throughout to maximize sightlines
and facilitate daylighting.
Mahogany millwork complements the minimalist interior, contributing to the overall aesthetic that's expressive yet timeless. The home is an evolution of the storied California beach house and a celebration of its
place and local climate.
