TOP: This 4,000-square-foot Cave Creek hillside home is woven into its raw desert site. Mostly glass, it
maximizes the surrounding mountain views and connects to the desert's natural rhythm. The roof has
deep overhangs to protect the home from the Sonoran sun while covering outdoor livable areas. Solar
panels power the home and are integrated into the roof structure over the carport.
BOTTOM: Another Cave Creek hillside home with extraordinary views, this 2,000-square-foot home is
70% glass, capturing Sonoran views and tying the home into the raw desert. Solar panels power the
home and are integrated into the roof structure. The upside-down scissor-trussed roof is designed to
gather rainwater. A covered concrete deck suspends over the desert and the roof overhangs extend
14 feet to the east and eight feet to the west, protecting the glass expanse from brutal sun exposure.

FACING PAGE:
This modern 4,000-square-foot home rides along a ridge with views of Wickenburg,
Arizona, to the north and mountains to the south. Deep-set overhangs and thick walls protect the glass
from the desert sun. The home rests upon the ridge like a stand of boulders with expansive apertures.
An exposed steel roof stretches from mass to mass like a tensile structure enclosing the great room and
outdoor living spaces.
