Surrounded by 80-year-old olive trees on a half-acre site near Sacramento, California, this 2,800-square-foot residence seamlessly integrates into the beautiful landscape.
The exterior façade is finished in a Caviar black stucco accentuated by Cor-Ten steel roofs. The flat-roofed entry and connecting corridors, with floor-to-ceiling windows,
create channels between the high-pitched opposing shed roofs while further accentuating the three distinct linear volumes of the home.
One of the main intents behind each of the volumes was to clearly delineate public and private spaces in the home. Central to the home is the public volume — an open
kitchen and dining area with a 14-foot bi-folding wall that blurs the lines between the interior and exterior as it opens onto a semi-enclosed rear patio that's perfect for
entertaining.
The private primary suite volume provides access to two distinct patios — the rear patio and a private semi-enclosed patio just off the primary bedroom. The third volume
is meant to be a semi-private space that includes the family room and two guest rooms, one of which has direct access to the rear patio area.
