Inspired Modern Living
Before Sherman* stepped in, the kitchen and living room were at opposite corners of this sprawling apartment on
Manhattan's Upper West Side. Uniting the common spaces, he nearly doubled their size. Now, the long run of windows
overlooking Riverside Park can be enjoyed in a single glance! By taking charge of both the architecture and the
decorating for this project, his team integrated finishes and furnishings into a unified whole.
This page and facing page: A new beamed ceiling echoes the apartment's historic detailing while differentiating the
dining room from the rest of the open plan. Flawless oak floors are herringbone pattern in the common spaces and long
planks in the bedrooms. The custom kitchen sink and island are carved from a single block of soapstone for seamless
continuity.
