Inspired Modern Living
The Doah House leans to simplicity with its rectangular volume and sloped, shed roof, punctuated by the distinct pair of
circular apertures on each side — a defining feature of the design. On one end, the window is lifted to make the space
conducive to a dining banquette, adjacent to the kitchen. The opposite circular window, which appears lower, is paired
to a window seat to capture the view.
Respecting the diverse plant community that characterizes the landscape, the home was sited to minimize impact while
responding to the natural rock outcrop that defines its western exposure. The building evokes a sense of floating above
the stone, which was achieved with circular concrete piles, and a deck that cantilevers beyond the roofline. Both site
positioning and fenestration are also the result of careful consideration given to neighbors' proximity and privacy.
