The original layout of the home was odd, furniture placement was a challenge, and the space
lacked definition and intention. So, Amy reinvented the main level living with an open plan for
dining, kitchen, and two seating areas. The refaced fireplace serves as a focal point with its
new floor-to-ceiling linear tile and custom modern metal surround.
A new built-in etagere cabinet now defines the foyer area without closing the vast open
space. This move, in turn, created a cozy seating nest beside the fireplace for quiet mornings
and relaxing evenings. The reimagined foyer also delivers a first glimpse of the homeowner's
art collection with a powerful Hiromi origami work that's balanced by the etagere showcase
of beloved colorful glasswork.
The completely transformed kitchen features a double waterfall island fashioned from
White Macaubas Quartzite. A subtle horizontal grain on the upper cabinets, veining in the
countertops, and the delicate lines of the tile backsplash create a subtle layering of textures
resulting in a crafted harmony for entertaining.
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the main space are repeated in the primary bedroom suite
and bath — a sanctuary of natural light.
