The original layout of the home was odd, furniture placement was a challenge, and the space
seemed lacked definition and intention. So, Amy reinvented the main level living with an
open plan for dining, kitchen, and two seating areas. The refaced fireplace serves as a focal
point with its new floor-to-ceiling linear tile and custom modern metal surround.
A new built-in etagere cabinet now defines the foyer area without closing the vast open
space. This move, in turn, created a cozy seating nest beside the fireplace for quiet mornings
and relaxing evenings. The reimagined foyer also delivers a first glimpse of the homeowner's
art collection with a powerful Hiromi origami work that's balanced by the etagere showcase
of beloved colorful glasswork.
The completely transformed kitchen features a double waterfall island fashioned from
White Macaubas Quartzite. A subtle horizontal grain on the upper cabinets, veining in the
countertops, and the delicate lines of the tile backsplash create a subtle layering of textures
resulting in a crafted harmony for entertaining.
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the main space are repeated in the primary bedroom suite
and bath — a sanctuary of natural light.
