3 Island Villa Lighting (IVL) is the vision of principal and founder James Solecki and it stands as the Turks & Caicos Islands' premier lighting specialist. With more than three decades in the industry, James brings a deeply personal, detail-driven approach to every project — shaped by his early years in stage lighting, his award-winning work across North America, and his long-standing commitment to dark-sky-friendly, environmentally responsible design. Rather than operating as a retail shop, James built IVL as a true collaborative studio. He works closely with homeowners, architects, and builders to design, specify, procure, and manage the installation of complete interior and outdoor lighting systems. Each plan is carefully crafted, fixtures are chosen with purpose, and every installation is intensively managed to deliver a look that is easy on the eyes, free from glare, and in harmony with the client's goals. James even returns after completion to fine-tune the aiming and performance — a diligence that sets IVL apart. Since opening IVL in the Caribbean in 2015, James has transformed lighting for private villas and luxury resorts throughout Turks & Caicos. His signature approach balances indoor and outdoor light to create seamless transitions, dramatic vistas, and truly livable spaces. As a boutique, one-project-at-a-time firm, IVL reflects James's belief that transformative lighting is not only seen; it is experienced. ISLAND VILLA LIGHTING PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS & CAICOS Island Villa Lighting THIS PAGE: Architectural lighting brings this outdoor pavilion at Grace Bay Beach to life after dark, blending warm, inviting tones with precise accent illumination. Palm trunks are subtly highlighted to frame the structure, while concealed lighting emphasizes clean architectural lines and open-air living spaces. The result is a refined nighttime atmosphere that feels both luxurious and effortless — where light enhances form without overpowering the tropical setting. FACING PAGE: Carefully layered illumination defines this dramatic arrival sequence at the entry of the Leeward residential community in Providenciales. Uplighting the palms reveals texture in the trunks while softly washing their canopies, creating height and rhythm against the night sky. Low-level landscape lighting guides the drive with restraint, balancing visual drama with a sense of calm and clarity. Photography by James Solecki
