Masters of Landscape Lighting
BOTH PAGES: Light has the power to direct one's focus, whether it's a
significant monument, a public building, or a private residence.
In architectural and landscape lighting, deciding where to direct the focus is
not only a matter of technical expertise or artistic talent. A lighting designer
should have a wide understanding of architecture, sculpture, the arts, and
physics as well as sociological sensitivity.
Every beam of light carries an ethical responsibility.
At dusk, when natural light gives way to artificial, building comes alive. Light
and darkness begin their dancing duet, transforming the landscape with the
interplay of shadows.

"Music without pauses is
unbearable...so is lighting
without darkness. In the
balance between the two,
we f ind beauty."
