For more than 15 years, Tranquility Lighting Design founder Jimmy Kidd has been redefining how the
people of Kentucky experience their nights. Known equally for his thoughtful designs and precise
installations, Jimmy approaches outdoor lighting as both a technical craft and a creative art form,
highlighting the most captivating features of each property and ensuring lasting value for homeowners,
businesses, and communities across the region.
Jimmy's path to outdoor lighting began in the world of live music production. Trained first as a sound
engineer, he began learning about the emotional power and technical details of lighting while working
behind the scenes at local concert venues in Texas. It was in that role that he discovered his true passion
at the iconic Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2008 — not for stage lighting and production, but for
the emotional impact lighting can have on buildings, landscapes, and music festival experiences.
That spark became the inspiration for Tranquility Lighting Design. Today, Jimmy is recognized for his
commitment to end-to-end excellence in his work and his hands-on involvement at every step along the
way, from conceptualization and design to installation and troubleshooting. His blend of artistic vision
and pragmatic problem solving has earned him several national awards, including the Association of
Outdoor Lighting Professionals' Best in Show and Best Commercial Project awards in 2023.
