43 Every masterpiece begins with a vision, but it's light that brings that vision to life. As lighting designers, we aren't just illuminating properties; we're sculpting experiences, shaping emotions, and unveiling the beauty that lives in the shadows. At Sponzilli Landscape Group and Lighthouse Outdoor Lighting, we approach every project as a collaborative effort between architecture, landscape design, and artistry. Candlepower and contrast become our medium. Trees, textures, and structures become our canvas. And nightfall? It's our opportunity. The goal isn't just to "see" a home or garden after dark — it's to feel it. To feel safe, inspired, comforted, and even transported. Lighting, when done right, doesn't just highlight design. It completes it. It tells the story of a space, allowing every curve, color, and texture to breathe and come alive. I had the rare privilege of studying under Janet Lennox Moyer, one of the most influential figures in our field. Her mentorship — and my continued collaboration with the exceptional alumni of the International Landscape Lighting Institute (ILLI), which she founded — has shaped my philosophy and pushed me to elevate every project I touch. Among these graduates are some of the most respected lighting artists in the world, whose commitment to excellence continues to raise the bar for our entire industry. Janet taught me that lighting is more than science, it's storytelling. It's understanding the soul of a space and revealing it with precision, grace, and intention. As a Certified Outdoor Lighting Designer and Certified Low Voltage Lighting Technician, I've spent over two decades refining my craft at the intersection of engineering, artistry, and environment. My work is informed not just by technical knowledge, but by a deep respect for the emotional and functional power of illumination. In the pages ahead, you'll find a collection of work that reflects not only our passion, but our purpose. From subtle garden scenes to architectural compositions bathed in controlled brilliance, each design is a celebration of what light can do — and what emotion it can unlock. Let this serve as more than just inspiration. Let it be a reminder of how powerful lighting can be when guided by knowledge, shaped by experience, and driven by purpose.
