ABOVE: Impactful lighting is possible, even without a multiacre estate and a six-figure investment. This intimate
backyard turned into a gardening laboratory for recently retired clients. While evidence of their efforts used to
disappear at sundown, they can now show off and admire the fruits of their labor long after dark.
FACING PAGE: The young, social homeowners of this property thrive on entertaining and throw quarterly
parties with several hundred of their closest friends. They have a large pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and a huge
patio space. LUC chose to light the background in a way that celebrates the mature trees, but lit in the foreground
to help guests feel safe and ready to party. There are several important staircases that act as transitions from
the front of the house to the party zone, and it was important for the clients that their guests feel safe in
this transition.
